Farfalla is the new interpretation of a historic chair designed in 1974 by Roberto Lucci and Paolo Orlandini, now reinterpreted in a contemporary key by Folco Orlandini for True.

Farfalla is an upholstered chair, an icon that returns with a more contemporary presence and a renewed line, maintaining the original spirit: light, recognizable, bold.

Farfalla originated from a simple but powerful gesture, capable of generating movement. The shape evokes the beating of wings from which it takes its name: each seat lives on its own, but placed with others it builds an organic, dynamic, natural composition.

The original is transformed but not lost. The new version is sleeker, the structure tauter and more defined. A balance between memory and transformation.

The details of an icon

Farfalla has a painted metal frame, with a cold-foamed polyurethane seat and fully customizable upholstery.

It is also available in an exclusive selection of Gabriel fabrics.

Compared to the 1974 version, it is taller, sleeker, and designed to fit into contemporary settings with attention to stage presence and modularity.

A project between generations

Orlandini Design is the studio led by Folco Orlandini, which continues the work begun by his father Paolo Orlandini, one of the protagonists of the great season of Italian design.

Farfalla represents the passing of the baton between two generations of designers, uniting different visions in a common language of functionality, form and identity.

Farfalla: upholstered design chair by Orlandini Design

Farfalla is an upholstered chair designed by Folco Orlandini for True Design, inspired by the original Le Farfalle project signed in 1974 by Roberto Lucci and Paolo Orlandini. Made with a painted metal frame and cold-foamed polyurethane padding, it is available in a variety of covers, including Gabriel fabrics. The new version is taller and sleeker than the original, ideal for lounge, contract, hybrid workspaces and waiting areas. A design that evolves over time without losing expressive power.
